Tousif Farhad
A photo-enthusiast guided by the constant urge to create visual stories
In my soul, I am an observer. I wish to observe all things color, all the forms light can create, and all being capable of making change.
But my longing for a deeper connection to the stories I document
drives me to delve into the lives of those I photograph.
As a multimedia producer for the world's largest NGO,
I have spent the past 10 years traveling my country, Bangladesh, collecting stories and visually documenting the lives of people and their inspiring journeys.
At the heart of it all, my first love is photography. I thrive on the challenge of composing elements within a frame in a way that can tell a story all on its own.
I am constantly seeking out the small details that capture the essence of a person and the experiences that have shaped their lives.
Through my work, I have had the privilege of witnessing the resilience of the human spirit firsthand.
I have seen people overcome unimaginable challenges, from natural disasters and conflict to poverty and discrimination.
And through my lens, I have been able to share their stories with the world, shining a light on their struggles and triumphs in a way that hopefully inspires others to act and make a difference.
Despite the demands of my job, I never lose sight of the importance of the work I do. I know that every photo I take, and every interview I conduct, has the potential to make a real impact.
In 2022, I began my new life as a freelancer. For the first time in a long time,
I started photographing for myself. I am now rediscovering my voice, reevaluating my perspectives, and most importantly, taking more time to observe.
As a documentary photographer and multimedia producer,
who has spent his life in the most densely populated city in the world, I have developed a passion for capturing the stillness in people through my images.
At the same time, I am constantly drawn to the silence I find myself in.
It has become a way for me to find my center in this transition.
In a world that is often chaotic and fast-paced,
I find the stillness in the faces and bodies
I photograph to be powerful.
Whether I am capturing a quiet moment of contemplation, or the
silence of a person lost in thought, I am always striving
to create images that are both striking and thought-provoking.
My name is Tousif Farhad, and I am one of the lucky few who have found their life's purpose in the work that they do. I wish to spend this short life visually documenting this journey for myself, and for others.
In the last 10 years, I have conceptualized, directed, shot, and edited over 50 long and short-form documentaries, designed and strategised some of the most significat campaigns for BRAC.
And all throughout this journey, in every project that I have been a part of, a single frame has always been my starting point.
